PGIN improves workplace sustainability thru training
Published on: May 05, 2023By Allyssa Charisse G. MagnoTo further improve human resource management and workplace environment in the province, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), and in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), conducted a one-day training titled “Revitalizing Talent Management for Workplace Sustainability” at the Centennial Arena, Laoag City on May 2.
This training program was attended by 119 representatives from private companies, business industry, academic institutions, health facilities, manufacturers, mining firms, and finance groups, among others. Its main purpose is to provide local business owners and human resource personnel knowledge and expertise in the fields of workforce development and employment facilitation to further improve workplace environment.
The event was attended by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, where he expressed his utmost support to the labor and employment initiatives of DOLE, stating:
“We look forward to working with all of you to ensure that the jobs here in Ilocos Norte are truly worthy of selling, worthy of marketing, and make sure that our employees are happy with their jobs. Ultimately, I think that is paramount para sa ating lahat so congratulations po sa inyo. Thank you for the partnership, I know that this will be a fruitful and enjoyable event.”
During the seminar, DOLE Region 1 Senior Labor and Employment Officer, Ms. Dionne Cleo Magpili Cruz, also introduced the JobStart Program, an initiative in which PGIN’s PESO is one of the implementors.
JobStart aims to enhance the employability of the youth by reducing their job-search period through trainings (life skills and technical skills required by industries), paid internship, and full-cycle employment facilitation services.
Moreover, JobStart intends to minimize the number of at risk individuals Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) by decreasing the transition period between graduation and employment, and improve integration into productive employment, as well as to address the common issue for fresh graduates who lack experience.
It is seen as highly beneficial to job seekers since it provides them with the opportunity to gain necessary training, experience, and certification through wage employment which will result to a job that is suitable for them.
The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, under the leadership of Governor Marcos Manotoc, has been undertaking a more aggressive job creation campaign over the years. Today, the Provincial Government takes pride in its deeper commitment to revitalizing the Province's economy by assuring the availability of quality and well-paying jobs.
